Hey lovelies! So recently I read an amazing book, called One of Us Is Next, written by Karen M. McManus, and I decided to write a review on it! There are absolutely no spoilers in this review, so you can read it whether or not you have read the book before. Let’s start!
Another year. Another drama. A whole new set of rules…. Bayview High is just about recovered from the death of gossip king Simon Keheller a year ago. Now there’s a new copycat in town who isn’t ready to forget him just yet. A school wide game of truth or dare seems fun, right? But this game is lethal. Choosing the truth may reveal your darkest secrets, accepting the dare could be dangerous, even fatal. The teenagers of Bayview must work together before it’s too late……
Plot : (No spoilers)
This book is about a group of teenagers aged about seventeen, whose school experiences a series of weird, very unfortunate events. After the death of a student from named Simon from Bayview High, a bunch of copycats team up together to keep Simon’s legacy alive, and create a truth or dare game. A deadly truth or dare game. The dares are often fatal, but if you choose truth, your deepest, darkest secrets could be exposed to the entire school. The copycats keep targeting students one by one, and it is up to the teenagers of Bayview High to figure out who is behind it all.
My Thoughts On The Book:
This book was super thrilling and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I literally finished it in a day because I was so eager to find out what hapepened next in the story. One thing I really liked about this book was that each chapter was told from a different character’s perspective, and I haven’t really read many books like that so that was a nice change. I would say that this book would be definitely for teenagers and older, but no younger than that because it explores themes like murder, and I’m pretty sure younger kids wouldn’t want to read about that.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this book so, so much, because it is such an amazing read. One thing I should probably mention is that this book has a prequel, One Of Us Is Lying, so you should probably go check that out if you want to read this one.
That’s it for today’s post! Did you enjoy today’s post? Did you already read this book? Are you going to read it after this review? If you already read it, what are your thoughts on this book?
See you in the next post! Anna xx
